In the weeks following Hurricane Melissa’s impact on our beloved island, I have travelled extensively from resort area to resort area, engaging with our stakeholder partners and industry workers. What stands out most is the remarkable resilience and fortitude of our people. It is a time for reflection and a moment to recognize the privilege of serving alongside the thousands of dedicated individuals in an industry that is the lifeblood of our nation.

There is a palpable pride within the tourism sector, no matter where you go, and our people are eager to return to the business of welcoming visitors. We are excited to share this renewed spirit with all of you. I want to assure you without hesitation that Jamaica is fully prepared to welcome guests once again. Our airports are operational, with clear access routes and a steady flow of traffic. Currently, our hotels are operating at over 70% capacity, with projections indicating a rise to 80% by March.

Many of our hotels and villas are already welcoming guests, and several are reopening ahead of schedule. Comprehensive safety checks and quality assessments have been conducted throughout our tourism corridors, ensuring a secure and enjoyable experience for all visitors. Tourism is more than just an economic driver; it sustains our communities. Every visitor supports local farmers, artisans, drivers, hospitality teams, and countless small businesses. Your continued engagement not only accelerates recovery but also helps restore livelihoods across the island.

We invite you to resume your programmes and encourage travelers to return. Jamaica is open, stable, and ready to shine brighter than ever before.

Thank you for your trust and partnership.

One Love,

Donovan White
