Wanderlust, the UK’s most prestigious travel media organization, recently featured a 7-page article on Moldova in its August – September 2024 magazine issue. Entitled „Moldova: Toasting to the Future,” George Kipourus, Wanderlust’s Editor-in-Chief, writes about his recent visit to Moldova and emphasizes the authentic and surprising experiences the country has to offer, including visits to Cricova Winery with the world’s second largest underground cellar, Curchi and Hâncu monasteries, Orheiul Vechi, and DescOpera open-air classical music festival. Also mentioned are local cultural revitalization efforts such as Arta Rustica, a traditional weaving centre conserving and promoting Moldovan traditional arts.

„Moldova, with its unique underground wine cellars and historic monasteries, is a fascinating destination worth discovering. From the vibrant landscapes of the agricultural fields to the warm hospitality of the locals, this country offers an unforgettable experience for any curious traveler,” writes George Kipourus on what makes Moldova a unique travel destination.

This sentiment is reflected in another recent article on Moldova in UK’s The Telegraphby Sean Thomas, who writes: “Visiting Moldova is like going home to the warm and funny family you forgot you had. Fantastic.”

Another recognition of Moldova as an exciting emerging destination is its nomination in the Wanderlust Travel Awards 2024 for 'Most Attractive Country in Europe’ and 'Most Attractive Emerging Destination.’ Travelers and adventurers from around the world have the opportunity to vote online for their favorite destinations, tour operators and experiences.

Wanderlust magazine, founded in 1993, is available in 70 countries and is known for its high standards of travel journalism. With a potential of 1.8 million online views per month and a circulation of 137,959 copies per issue, Wanderlust offers Moldova an exceptional opportunity to raise awareness of the country as an exciting travel destination. With an increasing number of direct flights to Chisinau (RMO), Moldova’s capital, including from UK cities, it is becoming easier and faster to visit than ever before.

The Wanderlust and The Telegraph visits to Moldova was facilitated by the USAID Rural Competitiveness and Resilience Project in collaboration with the National Association for Inbound and Inbound Tourism (ANTRIM), with the aim of promoting Moldova as a tourist destination in key markets.
