SHA launches “Hair Health”, its new clinical unit to take care of hair and skin health, in collaboration with Grupo Pedro Jaén, a leading medical centre in trichology, dermatology and related specialist fields.
Hair and skin disorders have become a major concern in modern society due to their impact on people’s identity and self-esteem. From March 2025 onwards, these aspects will be optimised and personalised using the SHA method, in collaboration with Grupo Pedro Jaén.
“The new SHA unit completes the broad spectrum of health and wellness covered by the SHA Method by focusing on skin and hair health, which are at the heart of the aesthetic concerns, well-being and self-esteem of modern societies. Grupo Pedro Jaén, to which SHA is entrusting the development of this medical service, is backed by more than three decades of experience, and its professionals are among the most prestigious in the world” says Alejandro Bataller, co-founder and vice president of SHA & AB Living Group.
This new unit, led by Dr. Ángel Aguado, a dermatologist at the Trichology and Hair Transplant Unit of Grupo Pedro Jaén, who will have an office in SHA Spain, begins with an evaluation and diagnosis to assess the condition of the hair and scalp using a digital trichoscope to detect possible pathologies or hair disorders.
“Currently, this technology is essential in our specialism, since it offers us a detailed picture of the scalp and hair at a microscopic level, making it easier to spot anomalies that cannot be seen by the naked eye. Quickly, non-invasively, without pain or discomfort, we analyse the scalp and shafts of hair at the same time,” explains Dr. Aguado.
Images captured with the digital trichoscope are analysed for signs of hair miniaturisation, variations in hair shaft thickness or shape, and other diagnostic factors of alopecia, as well as inflammation, flaking, or other relevant signs that may be affecting the health and appearance of the hair or scalp.
Dr. Sergio Vañó, director of the Trichology and Hair Transplant Unit of Grupo Pedro Jaén and supervisor of the ”Hair Health” Unit explains the importance of this early diagnosis since “people are not just resigned and are increasingly seeking answers to hair-related problems. Fortunately, we now have very effective treatments that, if applied early, can stop alopecia and reverse most hair problems. Before we only had transplants, and that option isn’t suitable for everyone.”
“Our professional endeavours have always focused on the pursuit of skin and hair health for our patients through our healthcare, teaching and research activity. We have always sought excellence in the treatments, technology and care we provide to those who come to our centres, and we are very happy to launch this collaborative partnership with SHA since we share key values and objectives aimed at improving people’s health,” says Dr. Pedro Jaén, founder of Grupo Pedro Jaén.
SHA guests will be able to start the recommended treatment plan during their stay, whether it is oral medication, mesotherapy or low-power laser treatment, and they will have access to innovative procedures such as Tricopat (a device that applies medication through iontophoresis, avoiding discomfort and punctures in the scalp) or the Hair Hydrafacial, a premium treatment involving scalp exfoliation and nourishment that eliminates all residues and creates a healthy environment for the hair follicle, ideal to enhance the effect of medical treatments or simply to promote healthier hair and hair growth.
The exclusive new “Hair Health” unit is not only concerned with hair care. It will also encompass other areas of dermatology, focusing on preventing the most common skin conditions, the early detection of cancer, and advice on healthy lifestyle habits to reduce the impact of stress and poor sleep quality on different dermatological diseases.
