Bare feet in the sand instead of a hat and umbrella. This is winter on the southern Italian island of Sicily. The ADLER Spa Resort SICILIA is enjoying mild temperatures and blue skies and is sharing them with its guests for the first time this year. The sustainable resort on the southern coast of the Mediterranean island is open until January 7, 2024, and offers relaxation-seekers, active vacationers, and the culturally interested a refuge from the „bad weather” in Central Europe.

Sea, History and Wild Beaches – Destination Sicily

Sicily, like many Italian and Mediterranean islands, has a rich history. In addition to archaeological sites and well-preserved ancient temples (such as those in the Valley of the Temples) the island impresses above all with its rugged beauty, the landscape shaped by the volcano Etna and wild coastal sections.

Respectful from the very Beginning

Together with the former landowners, the local community and the WWF, the Senoner family drew up plans for the sustainable resort. Opened in 2022, the resort blends harmoniously into the surrounding hills. As with the ADLER Lodge RITTEN in northern Italy, the landscape was not to be destroyed by the hotel buildings but rather complimented.

Natural, local materials make nature and hotel a unity, not only for the outside observer. Inside, terracruda, wood, and local stone ensure that the connection to the island and its nature is maintained.

From Farm to Table

Around the buildings, guests will find vegetable and herb gardens, olive groves, and orange trees that give off their scent in the spring. Farm-to-table is lived before the eyes of the hotel guests. Everything that is not grown in the hotel’s own garden is sourced from the surrounding area and local producers, preferably in organic quality. From this, the kitchen team conjures up authentic Sicilian dishes every night, with the aim of giving guests a taste of the island. If you still can’t get enough of Sicilian cuisine, take a look at the outdoor program.

Active and Cultural

This year, the active program of ADLER Spa Resort SICILIA has seen some innovations. Among them are tastings of typical Sicilian products directly from the producers. Cooking classes are also organized and take place in a renovated farmhouse in the famous Valle dei Templi, the Valley of the Temples. Guided tours of the area are an integral part of the program. Participants can also look forward to a little more peace and quiet in the temple complexes in the fall and winter, as the summer tourist crowds are gone.

The best way to explore a country is on foot or by bike. Sicily is no different. Especially the guided tours with the hotel’s local guides offer some background knowledge about the country’s flora and fauna.

Spa Resort at the Mediterranean Sea

The ADLER Spa Resort SICILIA has its name for a reason. Several (heated) outdoor pools, including a Thalasso Infinity pool with a view of the limestone cliffs and a 25-meter lap pool, invite guests to relax or engage in gentle exercise. There is also an indoor pool with access to a slightly heated outdoor pool and a freshwater pool for refreshment.

Several relaxation rooms and saunas, some with sweeping views of the ocean, provide space to unwind and let go. Relaxation is further enhanced by special ADLER signature treatments (inspired by Sicily) and weekly yoga sessions, which are complimentary for hotel guests.

By the way, there is currently a special offer for a relaxing fall and winter stay at ADLER Spa Resort SICILIA. In addition to accommodation and half-board, which includes breakfast and dinner, guests receive a wellness voucher.

A Week just for You

Yoga retreats with various internationally renowned yoga instructors are held regularly at the sustainable wellness hotel. A retreat at the ADLER Spa Resort SICILIA allows participants to focus entirely on themselves. During yoga, but also while enjoying the spa area or a walk through the olive groves and on the beach.
