Europe’s best ski resorts for value have been revealed, with Grandvalira resort in Andorra taking first place.

Travel insurance experts at Quotezone.co.uk have created the 2025 Best Value Ski Resort Index to help budget-conscious winter sports lovers choose their next ski destination.

Ten popular ski resorts across Europe have been ranked based on factors such as the cost of a one-day ski pass, accommodation, the average price of a beer, total length of slopes, and annual snowfall.

The top 3 best value European ski resorts are:

1. Grandvalira

The research revealed Grandvalira, a lesser-known ski resort nestled in the Pyrenees, offers the best overall value for money for winter sports enthusiasts.

The Andorran resort boasts over 200km of pistes, whilst offering affordable ski passes and one-night accommodation prices starting from just £57.

2. Bansko

Second on the list is Bulgaria’s leading ski resort, Bansko, where a one-day adult ski pass costs under £50, beer and hotel prices are also the lowest of all destinations in the index.

3. Spitzingsee-Tegernsee

Spitzingsee-Tegernsee in Germany takes third place, thanks to its combination of low ski pass and drink prices, and reasonable accommodation costs.

The resort is also just around an hour away from Munich, making it a convenient choice for those looking to book a shorter trip.

Rounding out the top five are the Rogla resort in Slovenia and Les Diablerets in Switzerland. While Rogla offers more affordable prices, Les Diablerets stands out for its reliable snowfall and stunning Alpine scenery.

At the other end of the scale, Rifflsee resort in Austria came last in the ranking. While this resort offers incredible views of the surrounding mountains and glaciers in the Pitztal valley, its high costs and just 26km of overall slopes make it a less appealing choice for skiers looking to maximise value.

Also included on the list were Val Gardena in Italy, Val Thorens in France, Trysil in Norway, and Glenshee in Scotland, ranking in the sixth to ninth positions.

Tips from our travel expert on planning ski holidays

Quotezone travel insurance expert Helen Rolph said: “Ski holidays are often seen as expensive, but there are some fantastic resorts across Europe that offer great value without compromising on quality.

“This is why we have created the 2025 Best Value Ski Resort Index, ranking popular European ski resorts based on key factors such as the cost of ski passes, accommodation, and even the price of a beer, as well as total length of slopes and annual snowfall.

“Our research highlighted Andorra’s Grandvalira as the number one destination for value-conscious skiers, offering over 200km of pistes at affordable prices.

“Other hidden gems like Bansko ski resort in Bulgaria and Spitzingsee-Tegernsee in Germany, can also deliver world-class skiing experiences at a fraction of the cost of some of the best-known ski resorts.

“Alongside finding a great deal, it’s equally important to make sure skiers have the right travel insurance to protect themselves from cancellations, lost equipment, or any injuries on the slopes – most travel insurance policies don’t cover skiing  as standard,  normally holidaymakers need to add on winter sports insurance to ensure they’re covered.”
