We would like to let you know that the Ecuadorian Emergency Committee has now instructed the relevant authorities to change the rules regarding entry to Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands. The final resolution is yet to be published with all the details, but we wanted to share this update in the meantime.

From July 1st, travelers entering Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands will be able to use one of the following methods:

1)   A vaccination certificate (with all the required doses), dated at least 14 days before their flights, or

2)   A certificate of a negative PCR or antigen test taken within 72 hours of their flights for all travelers over 2 years’ old.

Notes for Ecuador entry:

–      Health officials will also check travelers for symptoms related to COVID-19. Suspected cases will be required to have an on-the-spot antigen test. If the result is positive, travelers will need to isolate for 10 days in accommodation of their choice and at their expense. In the event that the antigen test result is negative, the traveler may continue with their trip.

–      All travelers must complete a Health Declaration form.

Notes for Galapagos entry:

–      If it’s dated within 72 hours of their flight to the islands, travelers can show the same international PCR or antigen test certificate used to enter Ecuador. Or else they will need one issued by an authorized Ecuadorian laboratory (see this list).

–      A Galapagos Transit Control Card will need to be completed online (or at the airport) before the flight.

–      A travel insurance certificate is required.

–      The safe passage (salvoconducto) document is no longer a requisite (except for tour leaders).
