As winter relinquishes its hold, one of the world’s most enchanting cities comes alive in a symphony of blossoming gardens, sun-drenched cobblestones and the gentle fragrance of spring carried on a breeze across the Vltava river. For those seeking the most memorable way to experience the Czech capital in spring, Mandarin Oriental, Prague offers an urban hideaway and seasonal culinary as well as spa experiences.

Situated in the historic district of Malá Strana, one of Prague’s oldest quarters, with roots stretching back to a small village in the 10th century, Mandarin Oriental, Prague occupies a remarkable collection of buildings that were once part of a medieval monastery. The complex itself encompasses a Renaissance wing formed 16th-century houses and a Baroque wing added by the Dominican Order in the mid-17th century. Beneath the Spa’s glass floor, the original Gothic walls of the St. Mary Magdalene church remain visible, and archaeological artefacts uncovered during restoration are displayed throughout the property, offering guests a tangible connection to centuries of history. The hotel honours the historical integrity of its setting while delivering the serene contemporary elegance for which Mandarin Oriental is renowned worldwide.

Monastiq Restaurant: A New Spring Menu

The hotel’s signature restaurant Monastiq, freshly distinguished with three prestigious Toques by the French guide Gault & Millau, presents a captivating new spring menu crafted by Executive Chef Michal Horváth. Drawing on classical techniques and historical Czech recipes, the menu is reimagined in a lighter register, celebrating the season’s finest local and seasonal produce.

„Spring is all about freshness and optimism, and that’s exactly what we wanted to put on the plate. Each dish is our way of welcoming the season from the sturgeon with fregola, lamb shoulder with fresh herbs to violet cake with coconut. We had a lot of fun creating this menu, and I hope guests feel that during their dining experience with us,” says Executive Chef Michal Horváth.

Easter Brunch

To mark the Easter festivities, Monastiq presents an exceptional Easter Brunch with a carefully curated menu of vibrant flavours, locally sourced ingredients, and creative contemporary combinations. The menu ranges from a light Wellness Brunch with smoked salmon and a detox shot to indulgent à la carte classics like Spanish eggs Benedict, hash brown Florentine and cardamom banana pancakes. Two full Monastiq menus, classic and vegetarian, round out the offering. And if spring delivers on its promise, the enchanting restaurant terrace awaits.  Guests will also have the opportunity to take part in a creative workshop focused on traditional Easter egg decorating, led by an experienced egg painter.

Wellness Awakening

The hotel spa, housed in a former Renaissance chapel, is a world first in its own right. Guests can choose from a range of treatments, a tea lounge or vitality pool, with partnerships including 111SKIN and Aromatherapy Associates. This spring, the spa menu features a journey through Bohemian Meadows. This two-hour long body treatment draws on the healing power of local herbal flowers to create a therapeutic effect on both mind and body. It begins with a foot bath and a cleansing sage salt scrub to purify the body, followed by an aromatic body massage and a nourishing face and scalp treatment.
