Arundel Castle will transport visitors back to 1474 this summer as it hosts its much-anticipated Medieval Festival Weekend on Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th July 2026.
Set against the dramatic backdrop of the castle’s lower lawns, the event brings history vividly to life as the Earl of Arundel celebrates the birth of his first grandson. Across the weekend, visitors can witness a thrilling knights’ foot tournament, featuring full-contact combat and dramatic duels, alongside an international archery contest with competitors representing England, France, Poland and the Holy Roman Empire.
A lively tented encampment and bustling medieval marketplace will offer an immersive glimpse into 15th-century life, with skilled artisans demonstrating traditional crafts such as metal forging and leatherwork. The packed programme also includes spectacular falconry displays, fire-eating performances, and dynamic re-enactments of medieval warfare.
For those keen to get involved, there will be opportunities to try axe throwing, crossbows and archery, while younger guests can enjoy Arundel Castle’s famous ‘kids battles’, storytelling sessions, and medieval-themed crafts, all accompanied by live music and entertainment throughout the weekend.
Hungry festivalgoers can take in the medieval-inspired fare at the Knights’ Table near the encampment, or additional refreshments are available at the castle’s café, tea terrace and coffee shop. Visitors are also welcome to bring a picnic to enjoy within the historic castle grounds.
