As Valentine’s Day approaches hopeless romantics are being encouraged to reminisce on some of the most iconic romantic airport scenes.

Travel experts at StressFreeCarRental.com are celebrating Valentine’s Day by looking back at heart warming airport scenes from some of the best romantic films of all time.

Some of the most popular romantic movies and tv scenes are set in airports from The Proposal to Love Actually.

It’s the perfect location for characters to confess their undying love usually before their other half boards a flight to move to a new country or city.

The cliche hasn’t grown old and this Valentine’s Day we’re rementicing some of the most well known romantic airport scenes.

John Charnock, CEO of StressFreeCarRental.com said: “Airport scenes are really common when it comes to romantic storylines and we’ve seen them time and time again in some of our favourite romantic films and tv episodes.

“It’s usually the perfect setting for two characters to confess their undying love for one another which makes for the perfect ending.

“In celebration of Valentine’s Day we’ve taken a look back at some of the best airport moments between our favourite loved up characters from Ross and Rachel in Friends to Margaret and Andrew in The Proposal.”

The Proposal – Andrew proposes to Maragret

This romcom sees Margaret, played by Sandra Bullock, get into a fake marriage with Andrew (Ryan Reynolds) in order to keep her work visa. After her plan is exposed she heads for a flight back to Canada. As she is about to board the plane, Andrew races through the airport before publicly declaring that he had developed real feelings for her. The scene finishes by him getting down on one knee to propose to Maragret and she reciprocates this by getting down on one knee too.

Friends – Ross declares his love for Rachel

Friends fans spent years wanting Ross and Rachel back together and in the final episode of the sitcom we saw Ross scramble his way to JFK airport to confess his love for Rachel before she leaves for Paris. Rachel continues to board the plane but later rushes off to meet Ross at his apartment after realising she still has feelings for him.

Love Actually – loved ones reuniting at the airport

The end of this popular 2003 romcom is filled with real life moments of loved ones meeting at the airport. It’s believed that these moments were shot with hidden cameras. The film crew would then ask the people if they could use the footage in the film.

Bridget Jones’ Diary – Mark confesses his love

In the first movie of the film series Bridget and love interest Mark take on the enemies to lovers trope, clashing upon meeting. The airport scene sees Mark rushing to the airport to confess his feelings for Bridget and stop her from leaving for a work trip.

When Harry met Sally… – Harry tells Sally men and women can’t just be friends

In another enemies to lovers story, Harry expresses his thoughts that men and women cannot be just friends because sex gets in the way, a statement which Sally disagrees with. Years later they end up on the same flight where Harry suggests the pair should be friends, clarifying and amending his original statement. The pair walk away from each other still not being friends and don’t romantically pursue anything until five years later when they are both single. It may not be a romantic scene but it’s definitely iconic.
