Job hunting can be a long process, and the one thing you need to score highly on is your CV. Reports suggest that playing a sport can increase your chances of landing a job as it demonstrates a variety of transferable skills, such as teamwork.
Intrigued by this, Golfsupport.com wanted to find out which sport is considered the most employable and among which sector sports are most noted. To do so, the online golf shop approached 548 companies across Europe from 14 sectors, asking hiring managers to analyse the CVs of recent hires from the past year, totalling how many times a sport was mentioned. *
GolfSupport can confirm that crediting a sport on your CV increases you chances of employment by more than 30%, with 39% of recent hires mentioning they partake in a sport.

The results show that overall, partaking in Athletics increases you chance of employment by the most, with 20% of recent hires mentioning they are involved in this sport.
In second place is Tennis offering a 16% increase in employability, followed by Rugby (14%) and Cycling (12%).
Also making the top 10 is Swimming (5%), Basketball (4%) and Cricket (2%) – all increasing your chances of employment.

Sector Breakdown:
Having interviewed hiring managers from across 14 sectors, Golfsupport were able to understand which sectors saw the largest influx of CVs citing sports. The results reveal that employers in Accountancy, Banking and Finance are most likely to employ those who take part in a sport (54%).
Employers in Law and those in the Travel and Hospitality industry also seem keen on sporting enthusiasts with 52% and 51% of recent hires respectively having mentioned their choice of sport on their CV.
However, employers in Recruitment and HR, and Charity and Volunteering seem to attract the lowest level of sporting enthusiasts with only 25% and 22% of recent hires having mentioned a sport on their CV.
Golfsupport.com approached 548 companies across 14 sectors, asking how many CVs over the last year detailed a sport. In doing so, the top 10 sports were established. The sectors included Accountancy, Banking and Finance, Law, Travel and Hospitality, Sales, Media and Internet, Computer and IT, Creative Arts and Design, Business, Consulting and Management, Marketing, Advertising and PR, Customer Service, Medical and Health, Education and Training, Recruitment and HR and Charity and Voluntary Work.
