As many people in the UK are now planning their summer holidays, I am reaching out with a comparison of airlines’ fees I think you might find interesting. In our latest report, we examined the various hidden fees and charges for airline reservations in order to find out whether low cost airlines are indeed budget-friendly. TradingPedia looked at seven airlines that fly to and from the United Kingdom and compared the fees for several services, including seat selection, luggage, and check-in.
Here are a few key takeaways from the report:
* Ryanair, Vueling, and Wizz Air charge their passengers the most, with hidden fees amounting to £220, £211, and £194, respectively
* Jet2 seems to have the lowest additional fees at only £66
* Not all airlines display additional fees and charges clearly on their websites – these remain “hidden” up until the moment you fill in detailed payment information in the booking
The report includes information about fees charged by seven airlines, namely British Airways, easyJet, Jet2, Norwegian, Ryanair, Vueling, and Wizz Air. We collected data from their official websites and through “booking” one-way flights from London to several destinations in Europe such as Madrid, Rome, Lisbon, Amsterdam, and Nice. We chose flight dates in early July (during high season) but on weekdays, since these are typically cheaper. We also picked the most affordable fares where no additional services are included.
More details can be found in the full report, which features a comparison of the most common hidden fees and charges of airlines. You are free to use the data, as well as all graphics by providing a proper link attribution to our publication.
